ROBERTO AMARAL
“Lines and shapes that range from free-form and organic to precise and geometric. Colors that vary from vivid and bold to muted and translucent. Applications that contrast from gritty and experimental to sleek and calculated.
These are the eclectic elements I incorporate into my wide spectrum of abstract expressionistic and contemporary modern works of art. The end result of each creation is a personally stylized image based on my intuitive approach to design, color, texture, composition and overall visual impact”
According to my mother, I began creating art at two years of age when she put a crayon in my hand and encouraged me to draw. Fast forward to age 12 when I really began to seriously develop as a budding artist through my junior high school years. In high school I took as many as 3 art classes a semester and was taken under the wing of one nurturing teacher in particular who encouraged me to experiment with different media and techniques while expressing my own personal artistic vision.
After high school I continued my art studies at Los Angeles City College, completing a 2-year art major program. Since then I’ve painted several works for residential and commercial commissions while continuing to add new dimensions to my creativity. Besides painting, I’m also now exploring digital design and have broadened my art inventory with limited edition giclee prints. I’ve even combined some of those designs with hands on painting to create multi-media works.
It was just recently that I moved my studio from the Los Angeles area to Rancho Mirage. I find living here in the Coachella Valley to be very inspirational to my creativity because I’m a big fan of mid-century modern design. And it’s no coincidence that my home studio and most of my art reflect that stylistic influence.
